soutěže American Idol (americké verze populární pěvecké soutěže Pop Idol), která ihned po svém vítězství doslova „pobláznila“ celou Ameriku.
Její debutové album nese název "Thankful" a prvním singlem se stala píseň "Miss Independent", kterou pro Kelly napsala Christina Aguilera.
